Spin Loft
The gap between dynamic loft and attack angle — the engine of spin.
What it is
Spin loft is the three-dimensional angle between the direction the club head is moving (attack angle) and where the face is pointing (dynamic loft) at impact. The larger the spin loft, the more spin you create.
Why it matters
Spin loft links your spin and your smash factor. A very large spin loft adds spin but lowers ball speed; too little can make the ball hard to launch. Dialing it in is central to optimizing distance.
How to improve it
Reduce spin loft for more ball speed and less spin by managing dynamic loft and attack angle together; increase it when you need height and stopping power, such as with wedges.
