Smash Factor
Ball speed divided by club speed — how efficiently you transfer energy.
What it is
Smash factor is ball speed divided by club speed. It measures how efficiently the club transfers energy to the ball: the higher the number, the more ball speed you got from your swing speed. A centered driver strike tops out around 1.50, the practical ceiling set by the rules that limit the spring-like effect of the face.
Why it matters
Smash factor tells you whether you're getting everything out of your swing. A low number usually points to off-center contact or a poor combination of attack angle and dynamic loft — distance you're leaving on the table.
How to improve it
The fastest way to raise smash factor is to strike the center of the face. Matching your dynamic loft to your attack angle, and getting fit for the right head and shaft, also help.
