Total Distance
Carry plus roll — how far the ball ends up.
What it is
Total distance is the full distance the ball travels, combining carry through the air and roll along the ground after landing.
Why it matters
Total distance matters most off the tee, where roll adds up. It depends heavily on landing angle and spin: a flatter, lower-spinning shot rolls out more than a steep, high-spin one.
How to improve it
To add roll, reduce spin and flatten the landing angle within reason. Firmer conditions naturally produce more total distance.
