Club Speed

The speed of the club head at impact — your distance potential.

What it is

Club speed (or club head speed) is how fast the club head is moving at the moment of impact. It sets the ceiling for how much ball speed, and therefore distance, you can produce.

Why it matters

Club speed is the raw engine behind distance. Even a few miles per hour can add meaningful yards — but only if you also strike the ball cleanly.

How to improve it

Improve your sequencing and mechanics so you deliver speed where it counts, and consider speed-training protocols and strength work. A lighter or better-fit shaft can help some players swing faster.
