“I decided to take up golfing about a year ago so I could golf with my friends. I never really golfed before in my life, with the exception of a few times in my teens. Being a first time golfer at 65 is overwhelming. Any golfer knows the sport is comprised of multiple decisions/actions that dictate how well you play. Missing any one of these items during your swing can result in your shot going everywhere except where you wanted it to go. With this in mind, after looking at numerous other options, I decided to come to GOLFTEC. It was during my initial swing analysis appointment that I met my coach Robert Okynio. I am sure what he saw in my swing frightened him, but he made me feel like there was hope. He has a calm personality with the right amount of humor and encouragement to keep me going. I am starting my second year with Robert as my coach. My golfing friends continue to notice the improvement in my game and frequently comment on my performance. I attribute this all to Robert as he has, and continues, to guide me forward. He works with my limitations and helps me overcome these shortcomings. My swing may never be pretty but I am no longer afraid to stand at the first tee and hit my drive. I would also like to acknowledge the other coaches I have met at GOLFTEC Walnut Creek . I come in for an hour of practice on Saturday mornings. Steve Kuzmic has always been friendly and wiling to help out anyway he can. Recently Corey Davis has been in on Saturdays and they both check in on me to make sure I have everything that I need. I have had limited interactions with Matt Plumlee but they have always been positive interactions. Without GOLFTEC and especially the crew in Walnut Creek, I might not be golfing (it's difficult to call myself a 'golfer') and without Robert I would not be enjoying this sport as much as I am.” — Gregg K, rated 5 out of 5 on Google (2 months ago)
“Robert at Golftec is awesome. Very positive, patient, and knowledgeable. He helped me build a foundation of skills that I can use to build a great golf swing with. Thanks for everything Robert!!” — J R, rated 5 out of 5 on Google (2 months ago)
“When I started lessons at Golftec, I had never legitimately broken 100. I now have an index of 13-14, and have broken 80 4 times thanks to Matt. He is very patient with my repeated recurrence of swing faults and has helped me tremendously.” — Gary Roach, rated 5 out of 5 on Google (4 months ago)
“There are no words for my experience! Robert has changed my game and swing immensely!! I can not wait to see what the next year brings!! Not to mention the staff as well! The Walnut Creek store is amazing!!” — Aaron Jones, rated 5 out of 5 on Google (4 months ago)
“I was initially intrigued by GOLFTEC because of the personalized coaching and the technology they use, including cameras and training videos that are accessible through your account after the consultation. After my first consultation, I called to learn more about their programs and was immediately encouraged to purchase a $1,000+ package. In my opinion, that felt like a large upfront commitment without yet knowing the coach or fully understanding what I was signing up for. Instead, I chose a smaller lesson package to test the experience. During my first lesson, my instructor started a few minutes late while finishing another session and had to pause again to complete registration. While not a major issue on its own, it set the tone for my experience. My second lesson was frustrating. I was taught a swing adjustment that significantly disrupted my game, and when I expressed concern, I was told to “trust the process.” Unfortunately, the change negatively impacted my swing for weeks. When the lesson ended, the instructor immediately closed the session and left without any follow-up questions or feedback. When scheduling my remaining lessons online, I later discovered that my instructor had canceled my future bookings without notifying me. I ultimately completed my lessons at another GOLFTEC location, where the customer service felt noticeably better. I understand that instructor experience can vary, but based on my experience, I would not return to this specific location.” — Brandon Tran, rated 2 out of 5 on Google (5 months ago)
